As spring arrives, the family and staff at Lewis Nursery & Farms is busy setting up for the season. Cal Lewis joined the 3rd generation family business in 1982, and since that time his wife Jackie has helped run the operation. Throughout the years, their children and other family members continue to participate in the effort as well.
Mr. Lewis says that he is excited for the longevity of this season’s crop. Mrs. Lewis added that she is looking forward to hosting folks from around the region who have been loyal to the family owned operation for many generations.
Lewis Farms puts their products on display at their Gordon Road location in Wilmington. Customers can pick their own strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Also available for purchase are a plethora of seasonal plants and fresh vegetables. An ice cream shop, which is a big hit for locals in the area, is also on site. Strawberries will be ready for picking right away. You’ll have to wait until May to pick blueberries and blackberries will be ripe later in the month.
